CUPERTINO, CA – SEPTEMBER 10: The new iPhone 5S with fingerprint technology is displayed during an Apple product announcement at the Apple campus on September 10, 2013 in Cupertino, California. The company launched the new iPhone 5C model that will run iOS 7 is made from hard-coated polycarbonate and comes in various colors and the iPhone 5S that features fingerprint recognition security.

According to Forbes‘ latest report, it is considered the most advanced iOS 14 update right now, especially when it comes to protecting your personal information. Why? Because Apple previously announced that iOS 14.5 will make your device’s Safari browser even more private by bypassing Google’s Safe Browsing in favor of its own servers.

The new iPhone privacy feature on iOS 14.5 specifically redirects Google Safe Browsing traffic through Apple’s own proxy servers to enhance user privacy and avoid giving any data to Google. Unlike the upcoming iOS 14.5, the previous iPhone systems would send an encoded version of the site’s address to Google’s Safe Browsing to be compared with Google’s list of fraudulent sites. However, this method allows Google to see your IP address, leading to a data leak.

What makes iOS 14.5 great?

iOS 14.5’s new security feature will protect your IP address when using your device’s Safari browser. This update gives you more privacy options that are not reliant on Google. Apple head of Webkit, Maciej Stachowiak, confirmed the new security feature.

“This article is a bit confused on the details of how Safe Browsing works, but in the new iOS beta, Safari does indeed proxy the service via Apple servers to limit the risk of information leak,” said Stachowiak via his official Twitter account.

Apple’s new move is a great addition for users’ iPhone privacy and security features. The new security update is great, especially for those who want to avoid Google’s services. On the other hand, Stachowiak said that Google doesn’t have the best reputation when it comes to privacy.

He added that unlike Google, Apple’s smartphone system is not based on user data or advertising, which means that Apple’s security system is better than Google’s.
